Essay 6

Penis Envy the father of psychology by Sigmund fraud argues that all women suffer from not having a penis or for not having the power that the penis holds. He gave examples of women desire to have a penis and women make up for it by possessing or control their father and or their male mate, or take control of their male child or just becoming very destructive. Over a period of time women are portrayed as weak and dependent on men. But, now you have some women who have a title for themselves as a single mom, hero, independent and highly intelligent. But, it is still not enough for someone women to hold the dominating power.
In Hollywood women are portrayed really different. They have more power in the film and in novels as well. Hollywood also displays women as suffering from penis as well. In the film the matrix, the character trinity is a good example for the lack of penis and she makes up for it with playing character becomes this fighting machine. She takes on the role as the hero or the saver. She plays the part really well. She has numerous guns, advance fighting ability and she wears dark clothing and her hair slick back like a man. Her lover or love interest Neo becomes an interesting item. Their relation is rather interesting because Neo and trinity are the action lovers. It seems like at first Neo plays this innocent role as he just got in the matrix and started to learn his purpose and trinity dominated him the fact that she was there before was and she had to help him out. As Neo became more use to the matrix he becomes more superior and his character was more of what is role suppose to be over trinity. Trinity still tries to dominate Neo because she sacrifices their relationship and her life to get the respect as a strong woman. This cries for a “penis”. In the philosophical novel of the matrix trinity had role where she is suppose to be save by neo but, the situation turn around where she save Neo form almost dying. The role of trinity suppose to be where most drama final scenes which trinity delivers a sleeping beauty style kiss and breathe the life back into neo and demands “Neo to get up and save the world” (52)it was his destiny and trinity was going to save him. But, usually neo was supposed to be the hero and save her which he could not.
Another good example from the film “The Truman Show” His whole life was a fake. Truman was very Naïve until a whole lot things started to come together. The women who played her wife was very controlling she never really want Truman to be normal and to not notice anything. She stopped him from doing a lot of senseless stuff. For example Truman’s wife had to hide her real identity. She played a loving innocent house wife and deep down inside she was a controlling woman. Her innocents could not hide any longer. She had to dominate him. Play a role everyday just so that he won’t suspect anything. She did what had to do. She took control of him. Just by telling him that his son died during a boat accident and the storm took him away. She also did everything perfectly like cooking, going to work, pleasing him, let him hang out with his best friend and drinking a cold beer. The wife was in control. Also in the movie we just saw in class sleep dealer the girl that memo love interest she controls him so she can get him to confess his situation and for him to open to him so he can sell his story. When Memo had found out that he was being used she finally explain to him about the reason behind it. He was upset but, he really felt used and betrayed. Women can use their sex appeal to get what they want, in order to dominate the male. They can be innocent but also show the dominating role, they want that power.
In the end women are always going to fight for the lack of penis we don’t have. Women do it every day. Woman fight for it on their job at home and anywhere there are men women are going to want to be in control. It is in our nature.

Blog12:Extra Credit Sleep Dealer

Sleep Dealer is ostensibly mexcian production. what elements or themes in the film mark it as "particularly Latino" or particularly mexican? Sleep Dealer have many latino, mexcian traits. In the being you see the area and particularly certain race they are. The area they live in is particularly in the dessert. The area was very dry and lack of water. The lack of water was due to the goverment trying to take over their water supplies in the small desserted town. The family basically lived in the middle of nowhere. The main charcter memo and everyone in the film was spaeking spanish. In the film the directed displayed a lot of struggle and immargration situation as well. like in the movies the different labor jobs they had to do in order to survive was a big struggle. dangerous jobs and dangerous conflicts you can get into just to live. It showed a fierce competition amongst their race for a job as well. No one really spoke english except for the mexcian american solilder who killed the memo's father in the line of duty. Memo also had to work to send money to his family. His job was dangerous even with all of those plugs it still dangerous. He also was talking about moving somwhere else like the city and getting away from his deserted town, moving to the city would be better. the big city was mexico city and to get away from it you would have get plugged in and work in another state vertically. so, they werent really in a different state because legally an immagrant can't. This movie Gave a good example about the real mexcian life and their struggle and I enjoyed it.

I finally come up with a subject on my final project. I am going to be doing a calendar and have my own photography photos as the subject and to present i will do a video of all the photos I took and show the class which photo made the calendar. the subject would be the artistic view of New york. Defining what makes up new york. the taxi, buildings, traffic, people, graffiti, etc.

Blog 10

Reflecting back on my own writing process I would have to say that it was a on and off for me. what I mean by that is sometimes I get in the mood to write and then there are time where i just don't want to write at all. After reading everyone Else's blog i would have to say that everyone have done a very good job. While doing the research for our midterm overall everyone did a pretty good job. I think the number one problem for some people when comes to writing is trying to start it. it is hard to come up with an idea out of nowhere. starting is the most difficult task to do while researching. when you have an idea for one thing another one pops up and then you go on wanting to start that new topic you just thought of. I am not saying that you will never get around to finishing your project i think it is just very difficult to start, but eventually you will get through it. my writing needs a lot of work. I have organizational problems and of course grammar. I realize that when I continue to write all the time and make it a habit then I will improve little by little. I have to try to write everyday that is my solution.

I am not sure what exactly he was tring to explain, did not really get it. this is my summary of what i think he ws trying to explain.Boundaries- Is something that makes the limit of something else. The expalins the difference in boundaries that have reasons behind it. for example your skin. their is a limit to your skin from the sun or any harm that can be done without protection. he also uses the jail and sending the prisoners to another country like austrailia. and excluded them form their natural state or enviroment. the point is distance them away. Connections is what connects us to society and everything we go through or see everyday in our lives. we depend on a lot of thins to help connect and I think we depend on it to much. Network is defined as something that causes chaos in our country, network is the basic function of what this country stands for. prisoners, power, oil, gas, aliens etc. Clocks everything is timed and fixes. and the history of time and time has advanced. bsaically he is trying to explain the changes of how we function and it may lead us into danger or obsession and we would not know to function without it. computer and how we communicate is something that is going to pay a serious toll later in life.

Essay 3.2 Rewrite

Option 1 Metaphysics

In order to understand the whole concept of source and ontological status in the study of the metaphysics, you have to define what exactly it is. what you start off defining what are sources? something that has the definition behind it or is the meaning of everything. It is define as something that makes everything real. sources have to be reliable and real. if its not good enough then the source is not good to use. ontogical is just the way things exist in the world. how do we know if it exist or is it real. well the type of source to look at is if it has a language. we need to know or to understand the source and connect with it. what make this source real is that it has things it uses to make it real. knowing what makes it real is another solution. knowlege makes us defined wiether or not it is real. another soulton wold be our senses to make it believeable. we need to be able to smell, hear, taste, touch and see. we uses our senses to tell either something is real or not. our senses help defined what things are.
For, examples the sources in the matrix are the people living their in the city of zion. you know humans come from their parents. but, that is all we know. when can't really say if it is real or not. because in the matrix they had a field of human created and nourish by the machines. we just know about the city of zion. matirx is not consider the real world it is defined as stated in the book that (61) what ever the unltimate causes are for the things which we can categories under real, they don't have nothing to do with the causes responsible for creating the unreal world of the matrix. we can only define what i actually real within the matrix is that the mattrix is controlled by a computerized machine that controls everything in the matrix. the ontological status to determined the unreal and the real is that it is to understand how things work or function. How everything all comes together. In the book Garcia and snaford explains that the matrix depends on things in oder for it to exist. the unreal depends on things in the unreal world. the machines are the sources for the matrix. this is what makes the matrix real and without the machines the matrix would not have an existence. Garcia and Sanford stated how the characters can distinguish the difference because they obtain this knowledge because someone taught them the difference. their was once a man who the matrix for what it is and was able to excape and spread his knowledge just like in plato's cave. he was able to spread his teaching on the rel and the unreal.
In conclusion I completely agree with the metaphysics status of the matrix and how Garcia and Sanford explained the source and the ontological status as well. it is just the knowledge of knowing of what is real and what is not real.

For my final project, I think I am going to do a youtube blog about something. I don't really know yet but I am going to think of something. I was thinking maybe adult cartoon like family guy, the boondocks, king of the hill or maybe something with anime in it. I might do a video or something. I have Imovie on my computer so I think it would be a good start. I am not sure what exactly am i going to do first.

My reflection on midterm paper and PowerPoint presentation was okay in a way were it was good but, I could of done better. My topic was Coco Chanel and her iconic status. I've decided to research what made Coco Chanel Iconic. well, of course her clothes, but I knew it had to be something more. I planned out how I was going to write my paper, start off with a mini biography of her life and how she got started and continue on talking about her motives and inspirations. General information about what she did and how she accomplished it. Her turning point during her time. look at and compared her collection then and now. look at Chanel line today and what she improve and what she added.
My PowerPoint presentation was going to be a guideline to the paper. I did not pay much attention to the PowerPoint. I directed my attention more towards the paper because I don't really write good or whenever I write a paper I become to lazy look back for mistakes. and really hate proof reading. I got kind of a writer block. I did not really focus much on what I should have been doing. I though I could have done better, because I admit that I procrastinate and waited to the last minute to finish. I have learned my lesson and make sure I try my best to be a little more organized. I should not procrastinate.

When Truman Finally exits Sea Heaven, what do you think it is that expect to find on the other side of the door? When Truman finally exit Sea heaven he is going to run into a lot of new and crazy things. First thing going to happen to him is he going to get a crowd of difference fans. some are for him leaving and then you have some against. his fans will be there to welcome him to the real world. his hating fans will have doubts that the real world would be too much for him and they would think that he should go back to Sea Heaven. Then, the news reporters and Camera crew would be there. Since the whole world was watching he is going to be very famous for a long time. He going to be on talk shows and radio just so the whole world understand what he went through. He probably is going to sue the director for putting his life on television. he would be all over the media.
Truman would have psychologist studying all over his life. they would want to research his whole life and try to understand if this type of containment is good for his life or any body's life. He would be in magazines and newspapers. paparazzi stalk the est of his life. he would have no privacy. Another most important thing that would be outside is his first real love Sylvia. she would most likely be there because she could tell him that she loves and wants to spend the rest of her life with each other. she's going to show him what the real would is like. so, yeah that what his life will be like on the other side. I think he would be overhauled of how the world become. he would go crazy and drive himself in crazy and plea to go back to Sea Heaven.

In "Fate, Freedom, and Foreknowledge", Schick explores the possibility of the existence of freewill both inside the Matrix program and, more broadly in Neo's life. Do you think your life is determined by a special, individual fate, or are you free to choose as you wish? Use your own life as the basis and compare to both the Matrix film and at least one of the philosophical positions Schick explores

personally, I think in my own experience staying alive is something that we don't have no control over. we all will die and theirs no other way around that. some people die early and some people die later. it just something we would have to face it sooner or later in out lives. this is why Neo did not want to accept fate for what it is, because he can't control whatever he want in his own life. he want to in control of fate. some people believe that god is fate and he's the one who decide what happen in our lives. just like the oracle in the matrix she is the one who knows every and know the outcome it all. Schick uses the oracle as fate she is the only one that can change it or knows what might happen before it actually happens.

The Sanford's uses the term "source"as a way to defined what is beyond what we know is real and unreal, inside and outside the matrix. The source is the evidence that help support what certain things are. they use the example from the matrix to explain that we know the people from Zion came from their parents but we don't know how it start or where it began. machines are produce by humans and by artificially intelligent machines. she is questioning how it all came to be. The Sanford's is trying tell us that all the stuff that happens in the matrix are not real and everything outside of the matrix is real. In order to distinguish this she contrast what we do know. The sources of all things in the matrix are the machines. The other way The Sanford's distinguish the real and the unreal is the term ontological status which define as the way things exist. the real world in the matrix does not depend on other for existence and stands on its own. the unreal world depends on things in the real world. so, as long as the machines keep running and generating in the real world, the unreal world could continue to function. The Sanford's explained it in a confusing way. I guess I understand a little of what they mean, The Real or The unreal.
To tell you the truth The Sanford's definiton was a little clear but I think that it could been explain more better becuase saying that the inside the matrix is not real is a little confusing becuase neo ask the same question when he ask morpyesis way he was bleeding and he though the matrix was not real and morphyesis said it's not it's in your mind. so, the mind is real and we all are an elusion of ourself. I don't really get it.

Blog 3

Reality in the matrix is the most important thing to know and feel in the matrix. reality is the key to all unanswer questions. The two readings I am going to compare are relief form the matrix: Arguing against skepticism and judging reality. In the first reading where philospher where discussing the question of knowlegde and reality from the matrix , descartes, unger, putnam and descartes. Descartes describe knowledge of absolute certainty and we ca not use sensation to justify our claims to knowledge. In other words, most of things we know are base on everyday experience. In order to know things and understand them we would have to have experience it to know what exactly it is and Descartes argue that experiencing reality in life does not justified that it is indeed true. we just know because of facts. I am not sure what he was geeting at but... I don't know it just confusing. An example that gave was that we can only distinguish dreaming form non dreaming because we are aware of both types and we can tell the differences. In the martrix Neo was not able to distinguish the difference in reality he was confused because he had never experience the matrix and that was something that he had learned.
In the reading on judging reality Neo was unaware of the matrix and weather to think of it as real or not. what is real is what you believe in and what give you a vivid and pleasurable experience. our senses taste, touch, hear, smell, see are very important in distinguishing the reality off life in the matrix. All of their sense were very important because if you did not use them or know to use them in the matrix you deny our human characteristics or something like that. So, understand what is real is understand through our senses and you are basically you have to experince to know what is real and what is not. The articles was a little hard to understand and kind of scary especially when they ask how do really know anything? which I am still trying to understand that because that is a good question. I define us knowing thing base on other peoples experince until Iexperience it myself. to know what exactly what is real or not real is know what is not real.

I am a Cyborg

I am a Cyborg because without technology I would be nothing and life would be boring. Technology plays a big role in my life. Technology help enhance society in general. Technologies enhance my life throughout my young adult years. I am a cyborg because I depend on technology to entertain me. Being a cyborg is just means that you would rather use something to help you in an easier way or think it as advance tool like a car for explain, instead of walking you can use transportation. I cannot do anything else if I did not have my tools or electronic. I am a cyborg born and raised. If it was not for the cyborg I would not be here. I was born premature and I was saved with the advanced technology. Television plays a big role in my life I get to watch the news, my favorite sitcoms, movies and so much more. When I was a kid television is the best thing to keep kids occupied and you set a movie up and the child was good for a couple of ours. Be a cyborg is not so weird and you can have a lot of fun with or without. But for general use I depend on it.
Everyday I Travel through the city whenever and wherever I want. I wake up and to an alarm clock and brush my teeth with the power toothbrush. And I could dry my hair with a blow dryer. I also heat up my food everyday over the stove or in the microwave oven. I walk out the door and take the train and then I swipe my card to go to my destination. As you can see my whole life is nothing but using a whole bunch of tools and advance technology and that is why I am consider a cyborg. If did not consider myself a cyborg it would be impossible. A robot for example depends on energy and the other tools that make it operate. The tools or parts that make up the robot are very important it makes up the robot, otherwise it would not be a robot it would just be a pile of junk. What makes us different from us humans is that robots don’t have emotions or feelings. We have the ability to change our decisions and feelings. We have the ability to decide either if we want to be a cyborg or not. Say if, you want to dry your hair you cant let it air dry, also you want to walk instead of taking the train you have that option. So, it’s not weather we have to be a cyborg its more like If you choose to be. So yes I consider myself a cyborg.

The life of jesus and socrates are compare to the matrix because in the Matrix neol is very important he was "the one". He was chosen by morpheus who was more of the leader and teacher for neol. Morpheus was the one to help neol or show neol how to believe. It was more like if neol believe that he was "the one" then he can do anything and the people behind him could believe that he was the "the one" and spread word to othe people so they can follow him. Socrates the chosen one was the man that got the opportunity to get freed and see the world and he can spread brand new news about what he saw in this new land and to explain the true meaning behind the fire and the shadow. jesus story was very similar because jesus was chosen from god to spread the word, "truth" to the people so they could follow spread his teaching throughout the world. jesus was trained to understand the true meanings of gods teachings and to make sure he could believe. Another similarity in the matrix was when neol died and came back to life. he came back to life to finally believe that the matrix is real and he was the chosen one and that he understand what he have to do. the matrix was soemthing that only he could understand to know if it was real or night. Scorates it was more of a miracle that that one of the slave got freed and that he was able to see the real world and understand what he saw to back and tell the others. He did not get kill but it was more like a rebirth to the slave.
The matrix suppose to mean a world where everthing exist only if you believe and not just because it is there. It was computer rise world that was created from machines. The matrix would not be safe if Mr. Smith was able to destroy it. Mr. Smith was more like the devil. where neol was the one that suppose to stop his negative spreadings. jesus was to spread the word of god words, positve ways of live and treating each other. In socrates knowledge represent good and no knowledge is evil. The Cave in Socrates was like a world which has no knowlegde of the outside world and what goes on. the cave was hell. visual information the matrix gives helps us understand what neol was searching for and what answer he get.
The matrix cold be a great commentary on film because the matrix is more of philosophical, science fiction movie with a lot of action and question that was not answered until the end. It is confusion but, you would have to watch it more than once to understand.

If I was in socrates cave, the condition I would be in is more crucial and daze out. I would not know who I am or what I am doing here. I was practically born here in this state. I probably would not know how to get up or walk. If a miracle happen and i get the opprtunity to be free and they would put me out into the real world. i would be in shocked and would not believe that this is all real. All I would remeber is the showdow movement that have seen on the wall and not actually think that all those things are from the outside. I probably would not know where I am because everything is just so new. I would not even know how to respond. if I had to walk into the light I would think that it is the light of the fire that I knew the whole time but, instead it would be even brighter. and the showdow that I had seen on the wall be probably compared it to nightime or a big foggy cloud. socrates basically explain that this was something that only those prisoners experienced. only what seen is all they know and you have to be educated or have some knowlogde of the real world.
